Dec 30- Jan 5

It's been a great time with family & friends, lots of strolling around exploring London and a massive amount of British TV catch up. We also caught up on all the foods we miss back home: in short we had
Indian 8 times
Roast Dinner 8 times
Chinese (Crispy Aromatic duck...yum) at least 5 times
Pie & Mash 5 times
Kebab 5 times

and with the craft beer trend finally reaching the British Isles in a big way, we sampled some pretty tasty beers (Meantime's Yakima Red being one of our favorites)

Monday: Took the parents out for a nice lunch at the Cutty Sark. Chris described this as a "short walk" after the tunnel. Linda quickly realized this was a complete lie as I led her along the river for what seemed like forever.

Tuesday: NYE at the Sach Pad aka The Barn aka Marc & Louise's. Louise and Marc put on a delicious spread of food (I may have eaten 84 sausage rolls among other items) Also got to try Louise's beautiful and crazy delicious cupcakes finally....yum yum yum! (Order these for your next party Londoners!!) Lots of craziness and karaoke ensued. I was perfectly behaved and not embarrassing in any way...I promise.

Wednesday: After our 4am bedtime we awoke less than refreshed and dragged our bodies home. Feeling revived after a shower Linda had made us our first delicious roast dinner for 2014. Seriously American people, come live in England - where you can have Thanksgiving/Xmas on every Holiday and on every Sunday. (Although you do need a kind person to be willing to cook this dinner for you)

Thursday: Woke up late, but seeing it was bright and sunny we darted out to catch the last daylight hours with a walk to the O2 and to possibly go on the touristy Emirates Gondola ride from there. It was a nice walk but when we got there the line was crazy and I decided I would probably have a panic attack inside the gondola so better not to wait in line for that. Had lunch at Nando's (have not been to one of these in a while and it was pretty tasty)

For dinner Chris did some good research and found a great place in Greenwich called the Guilford Arms. Slightly off the beaten path but with artfully presented and delicious dishes to make it totally worth it. Andrew & Jenny gave me some early Bday money to fund the occasion. The chocolate nemesis dessert was ridiculous...and it was Chris'. (Sorry for eating half of it)

Friday: I ventured out on my own to check out the fashion focused Friday market at Spitalfields. I perused and purchased a shirt & necklace and then headed towards the Southbank and saw a really cool Jewelry exhibit at the OXO tower. After this I joined the Dove's and Danny & Chris at the Hollybush near the ITV studios as once again we have some tickets to a taping. This time it will be Sharon and I going to the Jonathan Ross show. (Famous Brit talk show host for you US folks) It was pretty cool to see him in person. The guests were Jennifer Saunders (from AbFab), Paddy McGuinness (Brit Gameshow host), Naomie Harris (the new Moneypenny and played Winnie Mandela) and Jamie Cullum (Pop/Jazz/Piano Musician)

Saturday: Visited the Transport museum again to try and see the last part we missed, this time it was absolutely rammed so we did not stay long, but hit up the gift shop on the way out. We met up with Tom then Marc & Louise to watch an FA cup game (Tottenham v Arsenal) Not wanting to stay in an overly steamy pub watching soccer Louise and I wandered around Covent garden. Later we went to Lowlander's home of an encyclopedia's worth of beers and a great pulled pork sandwich. It was a great last bash out with Katie, Conrad, Tom, Shaun, Richard, Louise, Marc & Greg. When they booted us out we sauntered towards the tube and made a last stop at the Shakespeare's head..a visible downgrade from the rest of the evening but it fit the requirement of being 'open'. Greg made the journey home with us and he and Chris waxed poetic on one topic or another until the early hours. Later Greg got to experience the snoring I hear on a regular basis as he attempted to sleep on the floor next to us. Apparently it was so bad he dragged his makeshift blanket bed into the hallway instead.

Sunday: Had a nice last visit with Andrew & Jenny (and Franky baby) and later a nice meal with Alan & Linda at our new fave Indian Memsaheb (we've been here 3 times now...I'm sure they'll wonder what happened to us after tonight...maybe) :)

We are sad to say goodbye to everyone and Londontown as we never know when we will be back; but farewell great city and thanks to everyone for making it such a fantastic extended visit, you will all be missed. When we finally re-enter the real world you are welcome to stay in our spare room (if we have one)
