What I did
Monday December 9th.
We headed into London's Covent Garden area to check out the much hyped (and deservedly so) London Transport museum. Also we have tickets tonight to be members of the studio audience for the not very hyped political talk show "The Agenda". We didn't actually want to see this show but were promised tickets to a show we actually wanted to see if we attended
Tuesday December 10th.
Late start due to the previous evenings festivities, so only time for an afternoon gym session followed by a trip to the pictures to see "Nebraska". I give the film 8 out of 10. Definitely worth checking out my blog cast heroes.
Wednesday December 11th.
More gym action today, followed by a little culture in the form of a visit to the Tate Modern art gallery. No trip to London is complete without a trip here. Les would not let this one get by me.
Thursday December 12th.
Yet more gym action today. My body really is a temple. Once I had achieved my physical goal for the day, i turned my attention to my mind, and exercised that beast at "The Museum of London". This museum does exactly what it says on the tin, and takes the visitor on a journey through London's history. In the evening we checked out a new Indian restaurant called Memsaheb that we had heard good reports on. The reports were accurate and we enjoyed a stroll back home along the Thames complete with strange green laser shooting out of Greenwich.
Friday December 13th.
4th gym day on the spin, why am i still fat? This afternoon we headed over to the west side of London town to check out a Roman exhibition at my favorite nephew Henry's school. Henry was all dressed up in Roman attire and gave us a lesson on what life was like for a 10 year old boy living in Rome.
Saturday December 14th.
No time for the gym today as Les wanted to checkout a Christmas market at the O2 center. We got the train there only to discover that they wanted to charge us 7 English pounds just to get into the market. Paying to get into a shop is not cool in anyone's book so we gave it a miss and walked the 2 miles home along the river. Discovered a pub called the Cutty Shark on the way and invested our saved 14 pounds in some light refreshments.
Headed over to Loughton in the evening to have dinner with Kathryn, Conrad, Andrew and Jenny at our old local Indian "The Shamrat". We even had time to pose for a photo op outside our old apartment in Buckhurst Hill. Leslie also got a chance to check out my cousin Kathryn's flat for the first time and managed to mark the occasion by spilling a drink all over her wedding album. Don't think Les will be getting an invite back any time soon :)
Sunday December 15th.
Finished the week off in style with a big family lunch which was very kindly set up by my cousin Paul. Was great to catch up with everyone.
And that was that. So there you have it. Not as short as I had hoped, but it was a busy week.
