What I did
We set off with a grand plan of a roughly 9 mile loop that would take us from a random mile marker on the 101 down the "moderate" Ossagon trail to the "easy Coastal" trail leading us to what he had missed a couple of days earlier, the not to miss Fern Canyon (supposedly Jurassic Park 2 filmed some scenes there) We had decided against it on Thursday due to a bunch of road works.
We found the mile marker, success? (173.26 or something overly precise like that) Stocked with bottles of water, 2 sandwiches each, and the bananas mentioned in Chris' earlier post, we set off down the Ossagon trail. It was a fairly steep downgrade so we were already imagining the climb back up at days end. We reached the bottom and thankfully found the next sign for the Coastal trail. I had imagined an easy flat walk along the windswept beach but what we got was a fairly tight trail between some grasses about 4 football fields away from the ocean, I could hear the ocean but certainly could not see it, oh well..
We decided it was not meant to be and made the evil torturous hike/climb back up to the road (later we realized it was about a 800 foot ascent back to the car).
Somewhat defeated we drove back towards camp but not before stopping at the legendary "Trees of Mystery" in Klamath to have our Kodak moments with the giant Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue the OX
Eventually we arrived back to the campsite where I immediately passed out on our air mattress. Camping is for the young... like maybe 15 year olds. I am exhausted. So tired that Chris actually corrected MY spelling for once on this entry.
