On our way to Lethbridge we stopped in to check out the Tyrell Museum near Drumheller.  It was a fascinating museum with great dinosaur exhibits and even the opportunity to go out on a dig, though our timing wasn't right to do that.  Dinsoaurs roamed the area thousands of years ago and many of the bones in the museum have been excavated from the surrounding area.

We headed from there on to Lethbridge and arrived early evening.  It was lovely to see my cousin Sandra and Kevin again. They had visited New Zealand about 10 years ago with their kids Kayli and Chris, so they noticed some slight changes in our children!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying here, Lethbridge is a lovely town and Sandra and Kevin enjoy a great lifestyle on a couple of acres outside of town.  The kids loved hanging out at their place, feeding the trout in the pond and generally hanging with family.

We enjoyed watching a game of baseball with Sandra and Kevin and Steven, my other cousin, who kindly treated us.  It was our first game and great to have the rules explained along the way.  We had the pleasure of Kayli coming home all the way from Grand Prairie to visit and also Chris coming down to Lethbridge for the weekend.  They were both great with the kids and so neat for our guys to have a chance to really get to know their family in Canada.  Chris and I enjoyed some lovely morning walks along the country roads and a real chance to relax.

We visited Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump, a historic site where the First Nations people used to run buffalo off the cliffs.  We saw Native dancing and had a chance to look around the museum, really interesting and a beautiful spot high on the hill over looking the Alberta landscape.

We had beautiful clear weather for our whole time in Lethbridge, apart from one evening when we had the most amazing hail storm.  The hailstones varied in size and at first they were small, but they built to the size of large marbles and almost golfball size, it was exciting, but pretty scary too.  Kevin found that the storm had actually damaged some small areas on the outside of the house (vicious).

We had another first experience with Sandra and Kevin and that was enjoying smores over the barbeque.  What a delicacy.  A square of chocolate, on a graham cracker, topped with a marshmallow melted on the fire and then topped with another graham cracker.  Of course we all had to sample this delicacy and then I let the kids know that enjoy it because it would probably be their last!

We also had a lovely afternoon at Waterton, which is a beautiful Lake and gorgeous little town.  We enjoyed a picnic and spotted deer and other wildlife, with the deer wandering unfazed down mainstreet and even having a shot at tasting someones icecream!  Waterton is a glacial lake and Samantha decided she was going to swim.  Good on her, none of us volunteered to follow her lead!

We had a great family barbeque on our last night, with both Kevin and Sandras families and felt really sad to be moving on, but also thrilled to have had the chance to just hang out with family for a while.

The next morning we reluctantly packed up and hit the road for Bozeman in Montana, back in to the USA.     . On way to Tyrrell Museum
