Our boat trip was uneventful and very calm, we drove into Victoria with the rain looking like it was clearing a little for our arrival.  We went to cousin Donna's house and met her and her daughter's Michelle and Kim for the first time.  Wow, our family circle just keeps growing.

We planned to all go to dinner at a local restaurant but it was very busy so we went to Boston Pizza instead.  We had a nice dinner and a great chance to get to know everyone.  Then we dropped Michelle home, just missing her husband Derek and we headed for our home for the next two days with Ann, a friend of Donnas.

Ann had kindly offered for us to stay in the flat under her house.  And what a lovely surprise, we arrived to a beautiful spacious and very warm home, with tons of beds and a lovely location, semi-rural and right by the beach Wet trip to Vancouver Island

We headed off to bed and the next morning, went up to meet our host and her amazing dog Bailey.  A huge poodle cross, with a complete puppy attitude.  The girls had fun taking him for a walk to the beach (or did he take them?)  We spent the morning hanging out with Ann and when the boys came up she made us all popcorn and juice.

At lunch time we met up with Donna and went to pick up Kim.  She lives in Ogden Point,  a beautiful spot where all the cruise ships come in and we had lunch on the wharf and the kids and Chris and fun on the long breakwater.  We went from there to fishermans wharf and saw some gorgeous and huge friendly seals, all sorts of houseboats and the great view to the inner harbour.

We had a lovely drive through the inner city, what a picturesque place!  Then Donna took us to the petting zoo in the park.  The kids had so much fun petting the baby animals, tiny kid goats!  and a 10 day old donkey.  Zack and Chris decided to go and chuck around a baseball with their newly acquired gloves while the girls spent ages with the kids.

We then headed to meet the Amsons, who were exchanging a week with us at their lake cabin on Sproat Lake for a potential future visit to New Zealand Road to ferry

.  What a beautiful spot they lived in right on a lake in Victoria.  We got details of our next stop and then headed off to dinner at the local restaurant Moxies that we had missed out on last night.  It was a lovely dinner and we had the chance to see Michelle again and meet her husband Derek, who Samantha decided to torture all night and he handled her admirably.  The boys watched the basketball live and were happy to see the Lakers win game three of the NBA finals.

The next day the girls raced up in the morning to take Baillie for a final walk and we farewelled Ann, hoping to see her again one day in New Zealand.  We packed up and headed to Sproat Lake.

Cassie- Hi everyone, I loved the breakwater.  It was quite scary as if you tripped you could fall.  Bailey was a "doodle", a poodle crossed with a larger dog.  He was really, really big and very strong and he played like he was a puppy and he was very very cute. We met some of my relatives and had dinner with them.  We saw the seals getting fed.  They were so, so, so cute.  We saw rabbits in the university and they were very tame and I could get really close

Love Cassie
