Hello i'm back (for now)

This is the public service entry for my blog. Over the past 7-8 months since I got very lazy and stopped doing my blog, life overall has been pretty fantastic. The second semester in Yiyang was lots and lots of fun, and I was able to travel more as my confidence and Mandarin levels increased.

Over the summer my parents and younger brtoher came over to China and I was also able to travel in South East Asia, China and Taiwan for around six weeks. Overall a cracking year!

So i thought after such a great year another year in China wouldn't do any harm, After three days back in Changsha this time, I must confess to some major league mixed emotions. Changsha as a city is awesome, once you get over the shock of the smog, the traffic and the insane numbers of people. You can make a really nice life for yourself, I have loved Changsha ever since I stepped foot on Hunanese soil 13 months ago.

But unfortunately as with all cities some areas are not as nice as others, I met a lad called James last year who was a teacher at Hunan Normal Univesity, he told me that it was a good place to work and the location was magnficant. Unfortunately when I got the job at Hunan Normal I didn't know would be stuck in a satelitle campus 7 kilometers from the main campus, at the side of a motorway in a really quite run down part of the city. This place named Shu Da Xue Yuan is put it lightly the pits! it has not life, no amenities and is so badly located that it takes nearly an hour on the bus into the city. Now this is where the public service bit comes in, hopefully like me most people who agree to teach at a school will type the school name into google. I hope that if you are coming to Hunan Normal University that you ask to live on the very nice new campus and not this hovel on the edge of town. Now if you think  I am been a tad over the top (and I might be as I am typing now at the end of a all night session) then hear ye this. A swedish teacher was here about two weeks before I arrived and he lasted a mere 48 hours before calling it quits and finding another job in the city. I know the guy and he is not the kind to run away at the first sign of trouble. I have done 72 hours so far and already I have had more than enough. Hopefully the school will relocate me very soon, or to be honest I am going to leave very very quickly.

Signing off, I hope this prevents another person from coming here, I am so glad I have been here for a year, because I think I would be on the big plane home already if I had just arrived fresh from the UK.
