After a week of feeling like a hamster in cage, the inevitable blow out was bound to happen. After another day of TESOLing with Alex and a trip to the campus restaurant, Lorne, Hugo, Craig, Tom, Freya, Phil and Mark a new arrival from Wiltshire headed to our room for a game of cards and a few warm up drinks. After the normal games of rummy, go fish and cheat the drinking games came out. We played catch the bus, 21's and several others, the best of which involved clapping the tune to 'we will rock you’ and attaching a sign to each person, and when the clapping stops someone drinks, Freya explained the rules and judging from her tactics it was obvious she was well versed in the rules of the clap game.

At about 10 o’clock we decided to head out, it coincided with us finishing off all the Beijou and beer. We headed for a karaoke bar that was recommended earlier in the day, but after a few minutes it appeared to be hotter than the sun in the room and so we headed out on the streets in search of booze. It was at this point that we decided that it was about time we did a bit of foreign relations in Changsha city centre. So after Tom and Phil opted out, me, Lorne, Hugo, Criag and Freya pilled in a taxi and after a quick bit of bribary and Hugo’ Mandarin we headed off in search of a "JoBa". After a traffic jam at 11pm we ended up in what appeared to be the beating heart of Changsha. We headed for the nearest club, and Hugo took the lead on ordering drinks. It was at this point that his 100 yuan vanished and was never to be seen again, only after a high powered local, with the most beautiful women i have ever seen on his arm, interved did some beer appear. Me and Craig had agreed that Brits abroad rules applied so we chinned a couple of bottles is quick succession. After Hugo’ rather bad experience at the bar we decided to head out in search of another club, it was at this point we spotted the ‘winter palace’ night club, upon entry we knew that we had hit the right spot. It was at this point that locals started to ply us with drink, and we ended up on triple shots of Chivas Regal and Tiger Beer. Me and Craig kept up our 18-30 style drinking and after about 3 triples and another 7 or so bottles of beer i began to hit my limits. It was at this point we realised that we should be heading off, it was about 3am so we knew our host Jacyi would be wondering  where we had got too. Whilst rounding up the troops we realised that Hugo had had far too much and was well and truly merry. We summed a taxi and Lorne bribed him to carry one to many passengers, we set of back to our digs, with all of us well and truly pissed. On the way we sang an array of football songs and as the fresh air filled the cab Hugo began to struggle, so he popped his head out of the window and procedded to dump his stomach all over the Changsha highway. When we arrived at out digs Hugo fell out the taxi and so me and Craig had to prop him up all the way back. On the odd occasion we let him go he fell through a bush twice and cut his leg open. On arrival bag at the ‘hotel’ we blagged our way in and I fell asleep, Lorne and Craig stayed in Hugo’ room and witnesses him be sick all over the bed. Overall it proved to be a very fitting start to life in China.
