So it was with some reservation but trying to keep an open mind, that I made the inevitable journey towards Vegas, with the Grand Canyon yet to see. I must admit, after what we've seen, I was expecting great things from this Grand one.
Ok it is grand
If I thought the Grand Canyon was busy and overrated, Vegas was my nightmare. I hated it from the minute we stepped into the foyer of the MGM grand hotel on Las Vegas strip! Noise, constant noise, assaults you from every direction. Hundreds of Slot machines, thousands of people, piped music everywhere, huge video screens demanding your attention, and the most eclectic gathering of tourists you're ever likely to see in one place! People overdressed, underdressed, plastic everywhere, from bodies to credit cards to gaming tables, smoking, drinking, gambling. The boys check out the girls, the girls check out the girls and everything is in competition with everything else. I won't forget the SMELL of our hotel, a carefully engineered smell designed to obliterate the undesirable smell of human sweat, stale tobacco and lust. The smell is overpowering and gets into your clothes and hair and I hated it.
Everything about Vegas is designed to make you part with your money and indulge in the excesses that human nature is prone to
There is no peace or sanity anywhere in Vegas and we spent three nights too long there for me.
What a misery I am
