The further east we travel the climate becomes humid and changeable; blue skies and hot, bright sun one minute, clouds and showers the next.  The rain drops seem as big as big green grapes, and the water sits on the road but the worst thing is the spray that comes up from the passing cars, it's like a wall of steam and impairs the vision quite a lot. Luckily we have only experienced this for minutes at a time.  Traffic slows right down and there appears to be a high risk of aquaplanning.  Not for me of course because I avoid driving in such conditions( In fact she tries to avoid driving in any conditions).  The countryside is green and wine, rice, fruit and crops are grown.  The dialect has become a drawl and slighly musical, not at all brash, loud or annoying, in fact we sometimes are so focussed on listening to the people speak, that we don't hear what they say.  Eating healthy is taxing us. so far we haven't had a burger, the shops are stacked with fruit and veg, but the restaurants tend to use frozen.  It's cheaper to eat out then in but we shop for fruit and put in in our cool box and we try to keep away from the salty, sweet, and fried stuff but it is so hard.  Oh and we fill the tank up for about 20.00 pounds, bought a set of three windscreen wipers for 4.00 pound and had an oil change and check for the total of 14.00 pound, all in.  Now what would that cost us at home...!!!!

So far, the people have been amazing.  The Americans, including the young people and children are so helpful, polite and really nice. The people we have met seem to work hard and look forward to their breaks.  Not much different to us.

We travelled to Altanta and left the next day.  There was so much traffic and it was moving so slowly.  we passed a sign that said 'road works for the next 45 miles' funny enough the traffic was only a problem for about 2 miles. (not like home).   We cant judge this place because we couldn't get passed the traffic to see anything!

We headed off for the Carolina's and stayed at a place called Myrtle Beach in South Carolina, voted the number 1 family holiday spot in the USA.   (Probably by the people in Myrtle Beach)!!!  The sea is warm and the sand is proper sand.  Again the seaside is much like ours but more Blackpoolish.  Chris has finally swam in the sea.  We have had lazy days the passed few days, ready for the big drive up the coast.   Worth a visit, a good 6, but book a hotel with plenty of activities before you come, it's too hot to stay on the beach all day and  shopping, crazy golf and fairground rides are really your other options.

So tomorrow we are on the move and who knows where...
