So what do you think to the Star Trek Voyager?
Chris decided that hiring a car was becoming a nuisance, not that there is a problem with hiring the car more the problem of having to return it to a specific place at a specific time.
So we spent a day car hunting we asked a few dealers the same questions and they were pretty consistent so we met a man, who knew a man who had a trade in that they thought would suit us. So we took it for a test drive and he organised the buy, the paper work contacted the insurance person who came round to the dealer and once we had decided to buy the whole thing took about thirty minutes
So we went through Customs and they were quite friendly and not at all like we had been led to believe they would be.(SOBS)
We drove to Seattle and saw the World famous Pike market and the Space needle, both can be missed but the shopping was !!!
We then drove down to Portland Oregon ,which is about half way down from the border to San Fransisco, the place is a hippy flower peace place but it made you feel very uneasy, not that anything happened but you thought that it might.
So we quickly moved on to San Francisco The traffic coming in to town's is horrendous so I drive the easy routes and Chris drives the 'Oh my god look out routes'
If you stay on the outskirts of the town areas you can get cheap transport like park and ride into the towns
San Francisco is my favourite place so far and I would definitely come back here,Sarah and Jane you would love the shopping here!
We have been to fishermans wharf the tourist area along the bay, we saw the Golden Gate bridge and rode on a cable car and even jumped on the sidings whilst it went up the street we were so cool!!
The trip to Alcatraz should not be missed we met an ex inmate who was book signing and told us that he had done four years for bank robbery he didn't look so hard and we didn't buy his book.
We then drove down to Monterey to the aquarium, we went to see the only great white shark in captivity, when we got there they had let it go because it had turned vicious but we enjoyed the visit and Monterey is quite nice.
Moving on we took a short long cut through Carmel and into the back of beyond we hoped to see wildlife and Clint Eastwood but all we saw was landscape
So far we have passed through cattle country, olive farms, fruit farms and vineyards. it is nice to see this part of America and it is evident how drought has affected the land, the roads are mainly in bad condition their are a lot of potholes and cracks in the roads.
So we arrived in Hollywood a city of 'want to be's and would be's; they are so caught up in fame it seems to rule their life, this is fine for about five minutes THEN IT MAKES YOU WANT TO SCREAM! But we did do the sign trip, the famous peoples houses trip and the shops where you have to pay to go in by appointment only.
We are now in the Venice beach/ Long beach area and plan to stay for a few days, we have seen surfer dudes bladers bikers joggers and street performers.
We are disappointed with California we had planned to stay for several weeks but without being disrespectful to our East coast we are very much reminded of Mablethorpe and Skegness ,so we will soon be moving on to Las Vegas and plan to become storm troopers dodging the hurricanes that seem to be all over the middle of the country.
We heard on the news that they want to ban homeless people from smoking, the in accessory is a small ugly dog...only in America!!!!!!!!!!!!
