Today was another long, long drive day that took us from Poland into Germany. We saw some pretty country side along the way which was cool, and took the bus as fast as we could on the auto bahn which was heaps of fun. Some of the cars were seriously flying, crazy. Once we arrived in Berlin we did a little bit of a walking tour starting in East Berlin and making our way West. We started with a view of the remaining parts of the Berlin wall which was pretty cool. I learned that they put barb wire on top of the wall at first and then changed it to pipes because it looked better to the outside world. I also heard of a cool escape story where a man sawed the roof off of his car so that he would fit under the bar that stopped the cars, and he hid his girlfriend in the back. After the wall we drove along the river and over the bridge near the tiergarten. We drove past the Rathaus and the tall tower whose name I forget before crossing. We then past museum island which was cool, basically just a few museums on this little island on the river. Then we drove around the Reichstag and Brandenburg gates and through the Tiergarten a little bit. Finally we ended at Checkpoint Charlie where I got some money and a photo of the spot. We then drove to the campsite where we spent the rest of the night because it was kind of out of the city. We made bratwurst (fittingly) and the bar there served some good german beer. Afterwards we just hung out and all talked about whatever came up before bedtime, nothing to exciting really... Tomorrow we do a third reich walking tour...
