On our night train from Barcelona to Milan, we had our very own room.  How romantic.  So we headed to the train bar two carts down to knock back a couple glasses of vino tinto with our dinner.  Woke up refreshed the next day, waited a little for the train to La Spezia, got lost on the bus on our way to the hostel, surprise surprise, and after a lot of pointing and smiling, we finally found ourselves in a really nice small Italian village on the outskirts of town.  Tired and hungry from a day and a half of travel, we thought we would check in the downstairs bar if they had any food before venturing to the grocery store.  Priscilla, the owner, made us the most amazing meal.  Delicious fresh salads, minestrone, and pasta pomodoro that was so delicious I wanted to kiss her.  And it only cost us 5 euros a piece.  Decided we would definitely be coming back for dinner again the next night.  The next day we went hiking along the Cinque Terre, an amazing stretch of vineyards and terraces along steep cliffs next to the ocean.  We took the train to Vernazza (the path from Monterosso back was closed because of mud and rain) and wound our way from town to town along the ocean through olive and grape vines.  We hiked our way through Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore before taking the train and bus back to our hostel, knees killing from miles of hiking up and down uneven rock paths.  We proceeded to have another amazing meal, homemade authentic Italian lasagna.  Yum.  We are staying here for one more night (filled with anticipation of delight for our next meal) and heading to Florence.  Ciao!
