I have now arrived in Panama. A country famous for its canal, hats and John LeCarre´s tailor.
I made an early start for the border as the woman who runs it is known for taking a prompt two hour lunch break at eleven no matter how many people are waiting. I managed to miss her lunch hour but she wouldn´t let me use my British passport so I ended up with a $5 Australian tourist tax. What have you Aussies done to piss the Panamanians off?
Most people were heading the the islands of Bocas del Toro but I had decided to skip these for the moments as I expected them to be packed with locals for the long weekend. Instead I jumped straight on a bus to David.
David is Panama´s second largest town is noted for being really hot. And whilst I was here - really wet. It looks like the wet season has arrived a few weeks early. Then again, Panama has a nine month wet season. There is not much in David. Everything of interest is out of town so I´m just using this as a short term base.
