Sheez, what a way to start the trip.  Bangkok is just the best.  It's 01h26 in the morning, we're just arrived back from Patpong and we're spent...

Our flight on Eva air was amazing.  Enough leg room, great food, great service.  We arrived here (with Rob and Kath in tow) and booked into Viengtai Hotel which is in the road adjacent to Koh San Road.

We went on a shopping frenzie - batering our pants off and taking in the smells, sights and surrealness of this place.  We ended up in a place called Roof Bar where we reintroduced ourselves with the Thai Bucket.  For those unaware of it's power and contents - it's basically Thai Rum, Thai Red Bull (which really does give you wings - promise) and coke.  You get it in a plastic bucket, those that you used to build sand castles with when you were young, with 4 straws.

Before long, we rocked that place.  We met Germans, Sweeds, Kiwis, Aussies and even a brit or two.  Rob was making announcements over the microphone, Kath was getting unsuspecting victims to go sing (actually we heard him earlier and the 'actively encouraged' him to go sing again), Chris was rounding up the troops left right and centre.  It was madness.  When it closed, we headed for the nearest Tuk-Tuk and were taken to a club where we paid THB3600 for 10 people to go in and 2 bottles of absolute madness.  This of course resulted in stage dancing, Chris getting chucked out 3 times for taking photos(and reentering) and me, well falling on my arse a good few times.

Anyway, all in all a great night.

Hungover as hell, we did the obvious the morning after...Chris and Rob went to get measured for tailor suits.  Kath and I decided to treat ourselves to some spa treatments, ended up spending the equivalent of GBP10 on facials, manicures, pedicures, thai massages etc.  Meanwhile Chris and Rob when to go look for a camera (there is the great Olympus camera that can go 10 m underwater) and literally got taken for a ride by a Tuk Tuk driver on commission.  They went to 2 suit places, 3 travel companies and basically everything but a camera shop.  Hot and agitated they arrived at the beauty palour and wisely opted for Thai massages too.

We had a fantastic meal - braai'd river prawns, red snapper and squid.  We had another stroll down Koh San Road and Chris and Rob went into crazy shopping mode - batering some real bargains.

Today we were up at 6 to go on an excursion to the floating markets (incredible), a snake show (which I chickened out of once a cobra was thrown in a cage with a mongoose so I'll let Chris tell this story - actually just look at the photos and the video clip of the jumping snakes and Rob's quick exit) and a tiger estuary where we got amazing photos of us stroking tigers.  We got home, the boys collected their suits and Kath and I did some last minute shoppping.  We went of to Patpong to well do what you do at Patpong...little disappointed and a little bit grossed out.

It's been such a good few days.  Tomorrow us and Rob and Kath go our seperate ways, they go to Krabi etc and Chris and I go to Koh Phangan and Koh Tao before heading to Dan and Kylee's wedding in Koh Samui.  We can't wait to get a tan because we're currently the whitest people in Bangkok!

Hope everyone is well.  Happy birthday Milton and Louisa!

We'll keep you posted and next time Chris may even type a sentence or two!
