. We ended up using clothes to make masks because of the choking dust. We finally made it to the park and ended up camping on the hiker/biker site because the camp was full. It all turned out alright and our camp mates were amazed at the route we traversed.
Thoughts while pedaling: How can I think when my brain is being jared loose on all of these washboards!
Distance: 83 miles (20+ on gravel)
Ride Time: 7:00 Real Time: 10:30
Vertical Feet: 2500 ft.
What happens when you get lost on an Epic Cycling Tour? It turns into adventure! Today started well I was traveling with Josh again. We missed a minor turn in Ferndale but it was easily detected and corrected. We had a big lunch/breakfast in Columbia Falls. We got some groceries as we expected to make camp in West Glacier just 20 miles away. We has already covered about 40 miles so we took our time. Well on the way north on back roads we missed a crucial turn and never suspected it. The road we were traveling turned to gravel but that was not unexpected as our maps said we were going to experience 2.6 miles of gravel. Well after 10 miles of dust choking miles of gravel with an unbelievable amount of traffic we realized we must have done something wrong. We were able to get directions from some rafters and it turns out we could enter the national park on this road we just had to ride 10 more miles of bike breaking washboard road and 15 miles of paved roads and go around 2 mountains! So our 58-60 mile day just turned onto 83 miles with 20+ miles of bone jarring gravel
