Today started COLD! Yeah! after all of the heat it was a pleasure to have to wear some cold weather cycling gear. I still had 1500 ft. of climbing to do this morning so I left early after some sad good byes to the SF boys, as they were headed to some local "hot springs" and I wanted to make my date with Bend, by the 2 week mark. I met Wyatt up at the Rim Village Lodge for some of the best Eggs Benedict (a guilty pleasure of mine) that I have ever tasted. Wyatt and I shared some last few stories and parted ways.
Today was mostly a downhill day and as such I covered a big chunk of real-estate. I passed a couple of southbound cyclist but didn't have time to talk. I did get passed twice as I climbed up to the Rim Village by a Rolf a Swedish long distance runner. I finally was able to beat him to the village but I think he let me have the victory as he was headed 1/2 around the rim to meet his family for a hike to the lakeshore. I travelled on several highways today with heavy traffic but just as "Shortiy" said the roads are better in Oregon with larger paved shoulders.
This afternoon I arrived at the Crescent Creek CG, only to find out it was "dry". I thought I was going to have to use my "steri-pen" to purify creek water when a couple from Eugene became Trail Angles and gave me all of their water as they were heading home today. People are generally very nice to traveling bicycle hobos, at least when their not behind the wheels for their cars. I finished my day with a well deserved dip in the creek. A neighboring camper kid told me where to go and I found a 4.5 ft deep whirlpool with grass leading right up to the edge like a natural swimming pool. Ahhh! that was marvelous!
Thoughts while riding: I don't really have any. I'm just glad that even though my legs feel like jelly every morning they in fact are getting stronger. Oh and thanks to all of you that have been reading my ramblings and leaving comments. I really enjoy reading them. I'm sorry that most of my time is spent riding and writing, so I have little time left in which to respond.
