Today we visited the ruins of Ephesus, the best preserved ancient city in Turkey. It was a really hot day and although there were lots of people at the site (some cruise ships had pulled into Kusadasi) we managed to get around and see the sights. We had heard a lot of good things about this place and the Roman baths, the public toilets, the 25,000 seater ampitheatre and the library were impressively preserved. In other areas the archeologists had rebuilt some parts of the buildings so that you could get an idea of the shape of the fountain/building/column etc. On the way back to town we visited the site of one of the ancient wonders of the world, the Temple of Artemis. Unfortunately due to earthquakes over the years there is only one lone column standing but it didn't take too much imagination to envisage what must have been a hugely impressive building
