Ensanada was in Spanish possession until 1822, the year after Mexico gained its independence. In 1887 the peninsula was divided into federal districts, the first capital of northern Baja California was at Ensenada.
The ship arrived in Ensanada Mexico today and by 11.am we had embarked off the ship and crossed over the border.
At the port Ricky was able to cuddle some baby lions. Don't know what their connection is with Mexico. Tom and the kids went on a horse riding trail ride to the Rancho Los Bandidos and had a leisurely four-mile trail ride through the hills of San Miguel.
Robyn, Cricket and I went on a shoppping tour around downtown Ensanda and after 2 margaritas at lunch we were all very happy and ready to buy anything. Must have been on the boat too long as I was swaying in a few of the shops (before the margaritas).
In the Mexican pharmacies you can purchase practically anything over the counter. Viagra appears to be very popular as it is advertised everywhere. Also you are not allowed to consume alcohol whilst walking down the street yet it is permissable to dring and drive?
Another margarita stop with Tom when he returned and I bought some T-shirts, (real?) Dolce Gabbana handbags and lots of shoes.
Back to the boat and we had one more margarita to finish the evening.
