Happy Chinese New Years!!!
It was quite a big night. After doing very little today, all was redeemed this evening. I woke up a little after 12 pm (after being sleepless on the bus to Nha Trang), took a cyclo to the markets with my Norwegian roommate, booked a dive trip for the following day, and strolled along a bit of the beach. Really nothing too exciting. However, according to the lunar calendar, today is New Years Eve. So, it should come to no surprise that all heck broke loose tonight. After dinner, our group took a cab to the Sailing Club. Along the way we got stuck in traffic, as everybody was at a standstill to watch a concert just off the street. Across the road from the beach, a stage was set up. There were dragon dances, Vietnamese music, and a whole lot of partying. Everybody and their motorcycle were there!
Our taxi couldn't make it through the stationary crowd, so we paid him, and hoofed it over to the Sailing Club. The club is basically a bar catered to foreigners. I'm not even sure there were any Vietnamese there (as they all seemed to be at the concert). To make a long story short, our group partied quite hard, and celebrated New Years in style. After all, New Years only comes twice a year down here. More thumbnails ...
