Greetings,
Welcome to the beginnings of a backpacking odyssey! It seems strange to think that within 9 weeks we'll be packing up and heading off for 3 1/2 months. There is still so much to do, but I guess everything will fall together eventually.
I should start by introducing both myself and my trusty travelling companion - Julia. She is fortunate enough to be travelling for most of the remaining year. Prior to this escapade, she'll be in Europe for a month or so with a large organization. And then in between these two trips, she'll only have a week or so to get organized for this trip. Life must be tough.
As for myself, my name is Chad. I just graduated from university a couple days ago, so realistically I should probably be looking for a job in my field, but that couldn't be further from the truth. With this trip, it'll let me see some of the countries I've been studying in school and some of the ones I haven't.
Rather than listing the specific places we plan on seeing, I think I'm just going to let the travelogue tell the tale as it happens. Reason being, our plans going into this are rather flexible. If we get to a certain city, that's great. If not, well... so be it. What I can tell you though is a list of the countries we intend on hitting up: (in order) Spain, Switzerland, Greece, Egypt, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia.
At the moment, I'm just going to leave it at that. Our intentions are to update this travelogue on a regular basis. Some days obviously will be impossible to do so (i.e. floating down the Nile on a felucca); nonetheless, we will provide an outline of the missing days when we get the chance.
Well, until then,
ciao for now,
Chad
