This day will clearly go down in history. Sept. 11/01. Everything began fine over here. We had a chance to stroll the streets, go to the aquarium (we even witnessed a fish that looked like Chris Herard), and check out the train station - to make sure that we would have no problem catching our train tomorrow. Upon completing those tasks, we decided to phone home. That´s when we found out about the tragedy that had taken place in the United States. Four downed planes: two into the World Trade Center, one into the Pentagon, and one just outside of Pennsylvania. The details over the phone were chilling enough.

But as we left the station, the whole mood of the day had shifted. While we waited for the metro to arrive, footage of the destruction was being played over and over in the station. Back at the hostel, there were a lot of people crammed into the kitchen watching the proceedings over the only tv that was available. A mixture of nationalities present, all shocked by what they were witnessing. The range of emotions ran from pure silence to tears to shouts of profanity at the tv. Even at the smallest of cafés, people were buzzing about it. It´s a very disturbing feeling right now in Barcelona, as I would imagine it is all over the world. The Internet cafe that I´m in right now has about 200 computers and nearly everyone of them is full with people checking up on the news.

We can only wait and see what transpires from these horrific events.
