Wild Wadi Water park and Ski Dubai... coooool

I got up at 8am and headed down to the first floor for brekky - they had omelette's and cooked tomatoes - I was in heaven ! The concierge directed me across the road so I could get the No 8 bus down to Jumeirah - thats where Wild Wadi Water park is... I couldnt get on the first bus (too packed) but another came 2 mins later.... It was still pretty packed and the traffic was bad until we got out of the Bur Dubai area. The bus was a great idea - it only took about 40 mins to get to Jumeirah, cost 3 dirhams ($1 AUD) and it drops you practically at the door. A little walk around the corner and i was at the entrance. Already people were queuing to get in at the usual 11am opening time. Because I had pre-booked my ticket I got to go inside at 10am - the good thing is no queues ! I put some money on my wristband (you can use the wristband all over the park to buy food/drink/souvenirs etc etc) and made my way to the Master Blaster...
You hop in a tube and get propelled upwards through all these slides - when you get to certain areas you can choose which ride to go down... There are heaps of water slides that connect to this - my favourite was the Tunnel of Doom - its pitch black! You couldnt wipe the smile from my face... hehe
Other rides were just as fun, Jumeirah Scream where you lay on your back with your legs crossed and hurtle down the slide at speeds of up to 80km hr --- lucky for me i was wearing boardies/!!
Another good one was the wave rider - you attempt to surf a high powered jet of water on a boogie board - hard work ! One small mistake and you get propelled off and thrown up to the top area by the water - arms and legs flailing - it happened to me ! I stopped for a chicken burger for lunch and in the arvo just kept doing the rounds on the Master Blaster ride... I also went round the river in a tube for a chill out and did some sunbaking...
By this time it was about 5pm and I was ready for my next adventure... I got a cab at a nearby resort (after looking at the shops in air-conditioned comfort) and told the cabbie to drive me to the Palms @ Jumeirah. Its a man made island in the shape of a palm tree with all these apartments and resorts on it .. not quite finished yet though - but its huge -- like everything over here... I then asked the cabbie to take me to the Mall of the Emirates, a massive shopping complex that puts Chadstone to shame. I had a look around, bought some clothes and ate a wrap then went snowboarding at Ski Dubai ... yep a man made ski run built on the side of the Mall... ! Its about $50 AUD and you get everything included (except gloves). I got all my stuff, kitted up and headed in... its freezing inside but you get used to it pretty quickly. At least their is no wind - no huddling on the lift!
There are 3 runs(beginner, int & hard), a small snowboard park, a learn to ski area and a toboggan run. The first 3 times I came off the lift i fell over -- not good when you arent wearing gloves. !
About 1 1/2 hrs later i'd had enough and the novelty had wore off so I decided to call it a day. I went to the supermarket and picked up some snacks and then got a cab back to the hotel... It had been a looong and fun day !
