The ruins are hidden away in thick scrub with trees and vines and small streams of water meandering through. We saw a lot of the usual ruins (lycian tombs & sarcophagus's) but in very natural surroundings. The tombs have all been broken into by grave robbers. We also saw the remains of houses/temples that had amazing mosaic work on the floor - in the religious temple they had ones that depicted birds and other animals. There was another house that had an area that had a pizza oven... well you know - they didn't use it for pizza's back then but for other uses! There was a massive archway still standing - part of a larger temple
We walked back along the rocky beach and were eager to get on the bus to drive to Kekova (or Ucagiz) to start our 3 days Mediterranean cruise. It was a quick trip down the coast and over the hill where we saw the little islands that we would be cruising around... just beautiful. We quickly put our bags on the boat (called Sanis), bought some snacks from the local milk bar then settled on board the boat. We took off straight away and motored a short distance to a sheltered bay where we had lunch. It was a husband/wife team who were looking after us - he would drive and she would cook - and she was an amazing cook!!! We tucked in heartily and had to rest our full bellies before we put on our bathers to go for a swim. I jumped from the front of the boat, got a huge wedgie and took a while to recover from the shock of the cool water. Some of us swam to a nearby island and did a bit of exploring -- not much though as it was a little rocky and to be honest it left like our um nipples were going to break off it was that cold..!! We quickly hopped back in the water am swam back to the boat, hopped out and put our layers of clothes back on
The backgammon board was pulled out and EG and I taught people who didn't know how to play - to play!
Before long it was time to eat again - the best chicken dish and beans (vegetables -- a lot of us were excited).
After tea we chilled and read and played games before setting up our beds under the shelter on deck - this is also where we ate and socialised. It was a pretty cosy fit for 14 people - you couldn't really turn over but it did keep us nice and snug and warm...!
We turned off the lights and snuggled up together - the snoring started not long after and it took me a while to get to sleep - couldn't be bothered getting up and walking on everyone to get my earplugs from the top deck, plus it was too cold to hop out of the sleeping sheet and the blankets !
