We landed in Austin yesterday, and met our traveling companion for the next 5000 miles – our white Kia Something (who remembers car brands?) – no name yet, but we’ll take suggestions. It has an amazing assortment of technical goodies like an iPod connector, which would be more amazing if we could get it to work. Fortunately for those of us that aren’t enamored of country music and bible sermons, it does have functioning satellite radio.
Upon arriving at the Hyatt Town Lake we ran into our first trip guest star – the bride-to-be-that-day Kate Grossman (she looked wonderful, and was totally relaxed about her impending nuptials). We spent a refreshing afternoon with second guest star Mica Odom at the Barton Springs Pool, a huge municipal swimming hole fed by a natural spring keeping the water at a brisk 68 degrees – even in 100 degree heat
Kate’s wedding in the evening was a lovely Austin affair with an outdoor ceremony and (thankfully J ) indoor reception. Kate looked amazing (MB especially loved her jewelry), and we were so happy and honored to be part of her and Drew’s big day (Congrats, guys!!). Joe will always remember being half undressed by Kate’s mom at on the dance floor.
And, like most Fourth of July weekends with lots of heat and great food, MB ended the evening with a non-alcohol induced vomit. (She’s fine now). More to come tomorrow.
