We are learning a little Dutch now.   We crossed the border to Holland to visit a quaint town of Sluis (sounds like Dr. Seuss but with an "L").  Holland is a bit different than Belgium.  A huge wind mill greeted us.   The streets were filled with tourists visiting all "types" of little shops.  We will leave it to your imagination....just think of Amsterdam is known for....

We found mussels for lunch.....and didn't have to eat the rest of the day......LOTS and LOTS of mussels!   Yum.   We had a nice conversation with our waitress, who loves LA....she went there once...got the low down.

Found a nice church of course....much different architecture than what we have seen so far.   Did a little shopping and then off to Aargedem, Holland and found the Our Lady of the Inkwell cathedral.   It is the most vibrant church we have found to date of this trip, there are many children in the parish. It is named such because of a legend that the virgin Mary visited a condemed prisioner on the night before his execution in the 1500's.  She wrote a note, and told the man to give it to his executioner in the morning and that he would go free.  The man handed the note to the executioner in the morning, and was then freed.  Ever since then, criminals of different crimes come to the church, for pardon.

Back to Belgium.
