I can't believe I am in Scotland! the country is not far from Spain, and is very easy to accede to it. What I really want to say is that I'd always dreamed about visiting Scotland. I don't know why but this country has always been my favorite one.
And now I'm here! in Scotland's beautiful capital, Edinburgh. It's absolutely magnificent, the most beautiful capital I've ever seen. Although it's the country's capital it looks more like a small town. Totally clean, full of flowers and with an attractive cultural life and, of course, great nightlife.
I'm staying at The George Hotel, really recommendable with big rooms and enormous beds, equipped bathroom and friendly staff. We arrive late at night so today we just can go for a walk and submerge ourselves in the funny ambient of the Edinburgh Festival. We are lucky we arrived in the festival climax; there are theater plays everywhere (even on the streets), music concerts, monologues, performances..

We get up early and start de day with a panoramic tour of the city. We visit lots of interesting places in just few hours:
- Walter Scott monument
- St. Andrew's Church (Scotland's pattern)
- fabulous writer Robert Louis Stevenson's House
- the Palace of Justice
- the palace of Hollyroodhouse (the place where the British royal family stays when they're in Edinburgh) and the Hollyrood Gardens (which are a wonder, like a forest in the heart of the city - in fact they're called "Edinburgh's Lung)
- Grass Market district, GORGEOUS and full of typical pubs
- Fettes College (one of the most expensive scottish schools, where prime minister Tony Blair studied)
- Greyfriars Cemetery, where you can see the Greyfriars Bobby's tomb, the tomb of a dog that never seceded from its owner's tomb and, when the dog died, the priests of Greyfriars' Church buried it next to its owner and gave it the medal of loyalty and even the right to vote
All this things just in one morning! at lunchtime we were exhausted and we eat in a good restaurant near the cemetery.
In the afternoon we decide visiting the famous Edinburgh Castle, placed at the top of a volcanic rock, overlooking the city from the heights. Simply amazing.
Then we take a stroll along the Royal Mile. I love the good atmosphere that prevails in the street!
We arrive at the hotel just in time for dinner. It's been a hard but memorable day :)
