July 30
At 12:10 a.m we take the ferry to Santorini Island (Thira for the greek) and it only takes about three hours and twenty minutes to arrive there. When the boat anchors at the port the scene that we saw at Paros' port repeats: a crowd of greek people are waiting for the passengers to offer them room at their homes. Today we're interested about their offers because we have no place to sleep tonight. I have to say my friend and I are very easy to convince and we accept the first offer we got: a big double room with private bathroom and (wow luxury) a small fridge at Villa Firostefani, a cosy guesthouse near the center of the town (€40 per night). The owner, Antonio, is very kind and behaves as he's our father!
We have the whole evening ahead so we go for a walk along the village. It's absolutely fantastic! amazing! the quintessence of a cycladic island: white houses, blue round-shaped roofs and stone pavemented streets Oia (Santorini Island)
Oia (Santorini Island)
. This is a volcanic island and, at its origins, it was round shaped and had a volcano in the middle (the Caldera). One day the volcano exploited and a half part of the island sank under the sea. The part of the island that remained in the surface is the island as we know it today: half moon shaped with two small islands a few meters away (Nea Kameni and Paleo Kameni). These two small islands are deserted so is the big one who names the archipelago: Santorini (or Thira).
It's really amazing to see the black cliffs that seem to jump towards the sea, and even you can see houses at the edge of the cliff and you think it's gonna fall.
Santorini is a spectacular island and we can't stop taking photos everywhere haha One thing that really surprises me is that you can see donkeys in the streets! sorry but I'm a big city girl and these kind of things really strike me!

At night we have dinner at Cesare restaurant and we share a dish of mezedes (typical greek appetizers: dolmades, feta cheese, zatziki, taramosalata and aubergine paté) and zucchini.
Then we spend the night at the terrace of a cocktail bar with a spectacular sight of the sea and the coast.

July 31

Today we visit Oia, a village located at the north end of the island, twenty minutes far from Thira. We charge our towels to spend a day at the beach but when we arrive there some villagers tell us there's no beach in town. ¿¿?? Later we find out there's three beaches in town but they're all quite far from there: Baxedes (1,5 km across the road), Armeni (1,5 km too but across a dirt track) and Amoudi, smaller but very beautiful and easyly accessible going down 400 steps. There's no problem to go down 400 steps, the problem is going up! but anyhow we go to Amoudi beach and the panorama rewards the effort; it's like a postcard! The beach is very small, actually it's more a few rocks by the sea than a "real" beach but it's calm and clean and the sights are marvellous.

At 6:00 p.m aprox we prepare ourselves for going up the 400 steps and dying in the attemp buuut... a man offers to go up riding a donkey for only €5 so we do it! a great experience that I recommend everybody hahaha
At 8:00 p.m we take the bus to Thira and at night we go for a walk along the town, which has a really night inspired life: lots of pubs, discos, restaurants, cafés, etc but not as stressful as other summer places.
