Just when I was getting excited about playing sports, I go and get myself injured. No worries...I'm mostly recovered now...just a nice, swollen, discolored ankle. I mean in all the years I played sports in the states, I never had anything that took me out of playing. It's been a week and a half since I went up for a rebound only to step on a girl's foot...don't worry she's fine...heard the good ole ankle pop and down I went. So after I get off the court I'm sitting there wondering how in the heck I'm gonna ride my bike home. Luckily I had a friend with me who went and got me a cab and then took my bike home. So then what do I do...oh yes...it's the Friday night clinic visit (another taxi ride). They give me a nice shot in the rear (yeah, that's right), a Rx, and come back tomorrow. I take another taxi home...ice it...get up the next morning. I take a taxi to the clinic AGAIN and then the doc takes one look and says...I think you should go get xrays. So I take another taxi to go get xrays and then he drives me back to the clinic so the doctor can tell me it's not broken - and RICE - Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate...or something like that if the translation came out right. Taxi home...by this point I think I've spent all my extra money for the month on taxis. After a weekend of cabin fever and cancelled English classes, I decided that enough was enough. And I hopped on my bike...okay...VERY SLOWLY and CAREFULLY...but needless to say got around a bit to get some work done. Just put a bit of a glitch in my schedule when my feet are my source of transportation around here. Getting around though is getting easier...thankfully. Gonna get the doc to check it out today here in just a little while.
Last Thursday, I traveled to a friend's site because we had a math workshop at her school on Friday. Nothing like a 4 hour bus ride on a dirt road. We made so many Uturns that by the time I got to her house I had no clue which direction I came from. She lives...well...campo campo...in the country. She warned me about the tarantulas she has had many times in her house...but I'm only staying 2 nights, right? So guess how many we see...just take a guess...oh yes...3...INSIDE her house. Not to mention the dead ones she points out that she had killed the day before. EW! Did I mention that I'm arachnaphobic. I mean it's gotten better since I've been here...but seriously...the size of these hairy things...well let's just say I'm glad she has good neighbors that we can invite over to smash them with flip flops. I am also quite thankful for mosquito nets. Talk about exciting....
Okay...well I guess since I'm supposed to be here getting some work I should get started on it. Just had to give you all a quick update!

SPIDERS!!!
Ugh! Lisa, how did you stand it?? You know me and spiders. We don't get along at all. I would have had to make another trip to the clinic due to a heart attack. I cannot bear even little wood spiders! You are brave, my hero, an Amazon! Anyone who can face tarantulas can face anything!
Take care. Love you.
