I heard Patrick's Point was great to check out but I wasn't certain about staying there at this time of year. Great reviews in Moon guide for the view crest. Ick! I have come to the absolute conclusion that the author Tom Stienstra and I have very different ideas about what constitutes a good campground.
I was really excited when we arrived. The grounds are beautiful, there are cabins and you can see the rv's on nice clean lots next to the cabins. Smiling I eagerly headed to our site.
Whoops. We got back in the truck, it is later then usual, almost dusk. We head to the rv sites only to make a right turn. It turns out the rv sites I'm looking at belong to the place next door. We head up this steep narrow path. I'm having trouble reading my directions so I head up to where I think I'm supposed to be.... Oh oh, I'm now far along a path with no turn around and huge redwoods everywhere.
And I still don't know where in the heck this camp site is. I'm okay at backing up normally but this one took about twenty minutes. I pretty much took it in stride as part of the experience. After backing all the way back out I found our spot.
Camp grounds remind me of when I sold houses. Sometimes I would walk into a house and the house would feel uncomfortable to me. Other times I would walk into a house and it would feel really good. This camp ground just felt like the energy kept getting stuck in all the jagged edges. So we spent one night and off we were to new pastures.
