We arrived in Formia and walked up several flights of stairs with our luggage and fortunately our ride was there when we finally made it outside.  I was also glad to find out that chivalry is not completely dead when an Italian gentleman carried one of my very heavy bags up a flight of stairs for me.

I waited in Formia while Gerald and Chelsea brought the luggage to the flat.  I made my first purchase in Euros for a much needed bottle of water and sat resting in the station for Gerald.

The trip back to Gaeta was fairly uneventful except for my introduction to Gerald's Italian driving.  If I thought 610 in Houston was scary it doesn't compare with his Italy driving but at least here he blends in.  The mopeds have run of the roads and take advantage by driving in between lanes and never stopping at red lights or stop signs.

Before making it to the Flat we stopped at Chelsea's Flat where I met her boyfriend Fabio.  The view of the harbor from her flat is amazing and makes your mouth water!  I was able to snap some quick photos in the few minutes we were there.

We made it back to the flat where I took a cold shower and fell back asleep.  When we woke up later Gerald took me to a bar, Rendezvous's across from the base where I had some good American/Italian food.  Funny how on my first night in Italy I had a mushroom swiss burger with fries and mozzarella balls.  Overall it was an interesting and tiring first day in Italy.  I'm glad to know that Gaeta is as beautiful as I thought it would be!
