From Winters we drove to Roseville, just east of Sacramento, to see Jeff's dad, George and his wife Dorothy. George is 93 years old and has had some recent health problems, but we had a nice visit and didn't stay very long.

Then we continued on to the Ghost Mountain Ranch in Pollock Pines for the next week. It was the closest of our membership RV parks to Lake Tahoe about 70 miles away. On Sat. Aug. 16th, we drove to South Lake Tahoe to meet up with my friend Susie-Belle.
Susie-Belle and I went to boarding prep school together in Waterbury, CT  and since there were several Sues or Susies, I gave her the nickname of 'Susie-Belle' based on her (maiden) name of Belfante and I've called her that ever since. It also came in handy at my wedding when Susie-Belle and my cousin Suzi were my attendants.

Susie-Belle has been living in Australia, on Bribie Island, just north of Brisbane, for the last 13-15 years (neither of us could remember exactly). Her husband, Cliff, died last Fall and this is her first trip back to the States to see family and friends and maybe also decide if she wants to move back up here.

She's doing her whole trip by car, from the west coast, to New England, then back to the west coast again, all over three months. We've been keeping track of each other's travels and hoped to connect more than once during her trip.

We had a great visit in Tahoe, reminiscing and catching up on all sorts of things. We also called another classmate, Gretchen (who I visited in Maine a couple of years ago) and she'll see when she's back in New England. We also tried calling another classmate, Suzi, who I connected with in Houston but we couldn't reach her. We're all planning to attend our 50th Class Reunion in the Spring of 2010 and meanwhile I'm trying to connect with other classmates as we travel around. Most of them live in New England but there's a few scattered elsewhere.
