The McGregors left Las Penas the day before we did and spent the night about half way up to our destination of Punta Perula. So even though we drove straight through from Las Penas to Punta Perula, they got there first. After looking over the three RV parks they chose the Red Snapper where they could park right next to the beach. However, only for one night, then they'd have to move back a bit to a less desirable location.

When we arrived a short while later, we also looked around and thought that the Punta Perula Park would be better, because both RVs could park very close to the beach and it seemed much nicer than the Red Snapper. The prices would have been the same at both parks, $1000 pesos per week, plus a little extra for the good electricity. The bathrooms and hot water showers were definitely the best we'd seen on the whole trip.

Unfortunately, Dave McGregor, didn't care for the town and decided that he would rather go further up the coast past Puerto Vallarta. So they only stayed the one night, much to my disappointment.

We meanwhile, liked the park and the other RVers were quite friendly. Our immediate neighbors, Susan and Brad, were from Alberta, Canada. In front of us were June and Jerry, from Oregon and they are the parents of Candy, married to Dick, and that couple were in the big RV near the entrance to the park, and were from Kodiak, Alaska. All three couples had spent the winter at Punta Perula.

Dick and Candy were kind enough to let us use their satellite wireless internet connection, so we could use our laptop in the comfort of our RV. Which was extra fortunate, because the town was so small, I wasn't sure if they even had an internet place.

The bay is truly beautiful and relatively calm. The waves aren't big or dangerous, but we could still hear them as a lullaby at night.

We were told that there's at least one very nice beach on the far side of the rocky islands out in the middle of the bay.

The bay also attracts lots of boats, large and small, cabin cruisers and sailboats, too.  Bay attracts boats, too

The daytime temperatures were in the low 80s, but the breezes sometimes were actually quite chilly if you weren't in the sun. Also, it got down into the 50s at night, so good sleeping, snuggled under the blankets.

The park also had some beautiful bouganvilleas in various colors.

That's something that can be seen everywhere, no matter where, even in the deserts. Bouganvillea grows so easily and has such a variety of colors. Of course, my favorites are the purples and lavenders, but they're all beautiful. Pretty Lavender Bouganvillea

As for the Holiday crowds, there weren't any. The park's owner, another Carlos, had maybe about 20 people, mostly relatives, staying in some of the hotel rooms upstairs over the big patio where they also pitched several tents for a bunch more of them.  Hotel rooms above, big patio below

Only a couple more small campers also showed up, but the park's 20 spaces were nowhere near full, as you can see in some of the photos as well.  View towards the park's entrance

I really believe that the super early dates for Easter and Semana Santa were the reason for the lack of crowds. Maybe they'll have more later on as a Spring Break.

I got an email from the McGregors, who were somewhere above Puerto Vallarta and they said it was busier up around them. Also, I heard from Vern, who was all the way up at Kino Bay and he said the same about up there. So I guess we got lucky with Punta Perula, so much so, that we decided to stay another week.
