Meanwhile, Terry, ever the explorer, had found another treasure. About a mile from our park in Puerto Escondido, there's an area of hotels and some of them allow non-hotel guests to use the pool and facilities for a small fee. The one we liked is the Playa del Sol and it's a good example of Paradise. The bar and pool at Playa del Sol

Of course, you can just use the beach area where there's hammocks Beachside hammocks at Playa del Sol

or lounges under the palapas.

We even saw several whale spouts off shore. They were too far to see the actual whales, but it was nice to know they were out there and enjoying paradise as well. They were most likely gray whales, since the humpbacks don't usually come this far south.

But the pool area is paradise, as far as I'm concerned! The water was fabulous and they even had concrete lounges in the water, so you could sunbathe beautifully in complete comfort!
This is definitely the life!

So I would have liked my routine to be every other day doing other chores and the internet, etc. and on opposite days enjoying paradise at Playa del Sol!!  However, it wasn't very practical, even though they only charge $40 pesos (about US $3.50) per person for the day, plus any food and drink you buy there, which, of course, were also at more expensive hotel prices.

On the Marinaro or Zicatela beaches, we could have something to eat, a beer and free use of the lounges and palapas for only about 10 pesos more per person than just the entrance to Playa del Sol. So, much as I prefer the pool to the beaches, I really didn't splurge on it's paradise all that much.
