Side trip to Puerto Angel and Muzante
One day we decided to drive the 35 miles back down the coast to Puerto Angel, a small village with some pretty beaches.
We checked out Fernando's Palmera RV park there that didn't have anything special, in fact, the bath and showers didn't look very good, and yet it cost more than where we were in Puerto Escondido. We chatted for a while with two couples there from Ontario. One of them had an Allegro Bus almost identical to ours, but a year older. They also have stayed at the Alba Yuri on the Emerald Coast and know Bob and Claire, and they also are originally from England, like Bob. On this trip they had come down the West coast and were planning on staying there in Puerto Angel for about a month. However, about a week later, we found them camping for a few days on Zicatela beach in Puerto Escondido.
On the drive back, we drove around a housing development a few miles before reaching Puerto Escondido. There were several houses for sale, but nobody in the sales office. Some of them were really nice and right on a beautiful beach. We later went online to check out their website and found the prices to be cheap by American standards but not exactly bargains. The location was also rather remote, with no shops of any kind for several miles.
I also discovered, a few days later, that there's another RV park on the west end of Zipolite beach, not very far after Mazunte and the Turtle museum, that's not in the RV book yet. Another guy, Nathan, from Ontario, who only spent one night next to us in Puerto Escondido, went there and emailed me back about it. It's called Los Mangos and apparently is very nice and has a swimming pool, besides being just a block or two from the beach.

Puerto Angel
Although, the Zipolite beach that was similar to Zicatela Beach, with all the shops and restaurants, looked rather rough (at least when we were there). Turtle Museum sign
We also visited the Turtle Museum in the nearby village of Mazunte, which was simple but nice. The guide that explained about some of the turtles, also spoke English and had gone to high school and some college near Los Angeles.
Large Sea Turtle
Unfortunately, the batteries in my camera were getting low and didn't allow me to take as many photos as I might have liked.
Some Fresh water turtles
