The next day, Saturday, Jan. 5th, we headed south towards Pozo Rica, but along the way we nearly had an accident when a truck coming towards us, got into our lane and there wasn't a proper shoulder. So Terry was forced off to the right, but couldn't get back on the road without making it worse, so he had to drive on the rough dirt for about 100'. Well, let me tell you, we bounced all over the place and everything inside the RV was tossed all over! He managed to get back on the road, but oh what a ride! It's a good thing that we always use our seat belts, regardless of the fact that they're mandatory in Mexico like in the US.

We decided to stop a short distance before reaching Pozo Rico at a nice place called Condado Western Auto Hotel and Trailer Park in Cerra Azul. It was just a grassy area, with a few big trees for shade, on the north side of the hotel, with the usual Electric, water and sewer hookups. Stopping there also turned out to be fortunate, because the even the next morning, in daylight, don't ask me how, but we somehow got off the main road and landed up going out of our way, by way of Tuxpan.

In fact, when we entered Tuxpan, one of the transit police realized that we needed help and after chatting with him, he gave us a 'police escort out of town', and in the correct direction to Pozo Rica. Tuxpan was a lovely town, right on the water with a seawall and promenade-like sidewalk all the way, so that was something nice to see that we wouldn't have seen otherwise .
