Our Mexican Odyssey 2008
The border crossing on Friday, January 4th, was pretty simple and didn't take too long, although it looked like a line was forming after us, so we were glad we got there as soon as it opened at 9:00am.
We had secured everything as well, or better, than usual, however, that really proved to be not enough! After crossing the border into Matamoros, we started to see, and feel, the Mexican roads. In particular, the "topes" (speed bumps) that range from not too bad to horrendous!
After about a 3 hour drive, we got to Ciudad Victoria without problems and after parking and getting set up, we went exploring a little and went to the supermarket, to check it out and to get a couple of small items.
We also managed to tune in our satellite for TV, which picked up all the usual stations except the NY networks. But that was to be the last time it worked, because we were going too far south. I really didn't care much because I was quite tired and went to bed early.
