On Tuesday we left Arklow at about 4.30 in the morning to a glorious sunrise over the bloody wind turbines. The journey was all done under engine and the tides were in our favour. We spotted a couple of seals some pods of Dolphins and Gina saw a Minkhe whale just off of Carnsore point.
After crossing a small gap in the reef East of Kilmore Quay and following a tight transit into the harbour to be met by the harbour master running down to the pontoon to take our lines (must have heard about our arrival in Ardglass!) he then told us where everything was in the village (2 pubs, a seafood restaurant, chippie, a comprehensively stocked chandlers and a deli/village shop). We had a very good meal in one of the pubs where the food was expertly cooked, the service incredibly friendly and efficient (Goal training eat your hearts out)and the overall experience first class.
Kilmore Quay is definitely a place to re-visit.
