Well there are 2 things that I forgot to tell you about Uganda.

1. Safari 3

Our third safari took us to Northern Uganda. Not too north as some of you might know that there is a group of nutters up there called the LRA who are going about killing people. But we did go to Murchison Falls - a beautiful waterfall and national park on a 3 day trip costing $155 (bargain!) We stayed in tents that had beds in them and spent a couple of days on safari. The first trip to the national park was good. We saw all the usual animals and loads of different beautiful birds too. The next trip was on the river towards the waterfall, where we saw a huge amount of hippos right up close and some crocs. Decided that hippos are fab with their little Cheryl legs and huge Kevin mouths. We really enjoyed this trip and it was very reasonable - so all in all we were happy.

2. Bus ride from hell

Well we have been on quite a few bus journeys and I can definitely say that the ride from Kampala to Bwindi Rain Forest was probably the most eventful. This lovely 10 hour journey began with us being told that the bus left at 6am. Arriving at 5.30am to get a seat, the bus did not move for another 2 hours. After travelling for about 2 hours, the lady opposite us started being sick - fantastic! She continued in this way for the next 3 hours until we stopped for 5 mins in which time she sent someone to go and get her some barbecued goat on a stick (which stank) and ate it. So guess what she then did for the next 5 hours? Yes she threw up again! It smelt delightful! Whilst this was happening a woman got on the bus. She had a baby in one hand and a live chicken tied around the feet in the other. She threw the chicken on the floor and it landed under Kev's chair. It spent the next few hours trying to peck his feet and when we stopped briefly and the coach door was open the poor chicken tried to make a run for it. It got as far as the stairs leading out of the coach before the lady threw it back under Kev's chair again!!!! So when are we going to stop for a wee and a drink was my next thought? And then my question was answered. The bus pulled to the side of the road. Men and women got off and hitched up their clothes to go to the toilet next to the bus. Surely not, I thought. But yes, this was the loo stop, so out I got and did a wee - when in Rome!!!! How I wished I had a big dress on like the other women. Interrupted by the sound of a man laughing at me and shouting MZUNGU, MZUNGU! (White person, white person hurry up we are going! Oh I am really having fun here!!! After 7 hours the road was practically non existent and we spent the next three bumping about. The scenery was fantastic though and the rain forest at the end made it almost worth the hurrendous journey!!!
