04/03

On Wednesday it was my last day at my placement at Vera School, It was a shame the 4 weeks there went so quick, as i would have loved to see the assessment centre and other parts of the school and how it operated. As i only had my timetable for a few weeks I had only just got settled into the 3 main classes i worked in and was starting to feel useful not just hanging around and waiting. But it wasn't a sad day, i still had the children at home to go back to it wasn't like I was leaving special needs. And because I wasn't leaving SA that day it didn't feel like the end. I filled out an evaluation form, which i thought was a good idea to get feedback, and said that i thought the general atmosphere of the school was relaxed and I had enjoyed my time thoroughly.
On my last day i was with Gitte's class who were going Horse Ridding. That was a good day to be with them, i got to go on a bus trip to Constantia. It was a beautiful place, affluent and rich with colour all up the sides of the gentle mountain slopes. The kids seemed to enjoy the horse ridding and it gave some more freedom and a break from the normal school routine.

After work we went on a very random last-minute-pile-in-one-car to go shopping at Canal Walk, Century City. It is the largest Shopping Centre in the southern hemisphere, but we still laughed at Tim when he didn't turn up at 9pm, and rang us to say he was lost. It was a really beautiful place at night but I imagine in the day time it was even more impressive. There was Canals running around the whole complex and the food court inside was like a snapshot from Las Vegas, with a giant illuminous Macdonalds 'M' reaching high over the middle of the ceiling! Here we grabbed some food, including an 11p ice cream! As I had plenty of money left I thought I'd treat myself to some clothes from the many good shops to choose from. All my favorites were there as a consequence I walked out at closing having spent over R1300!
