That was my first time having to sleep all alone in the hotel room at Novotel, Palembang. My husband's passport had expired and he was denied flight at the check-in counter. Gosh, I made one courageous decision to carry on our trip without him. I met up with my brother in law and his son, and off we went. The first visit was to the memorial where we offered flowers, remembered our loved ones and burned offerings. The second day was hectic. We had to travel by chartered boat and bump ourselves out across the perilous river to the actual crash site. The river was amazingly wide, rapid and terribly murky. Upon reaching, everyone climbed onto the top of the boats and observed a moment of silence. We visited the nearby village where a marker and plaque was constructed. On the last day, we stopped by the memorial again before departure.

Forever in rememberance. Forever in our minds and hearts. A tribute to my sister in law - an ambitious career woman, a dedicated mother, a loving wife, a caring sister, a precious daughter. You left too young and broke way too many hearts. Life is never the same again, for many of those who care for you. You have made us learn to treasure more and hate less.
