As we left Esquel this morning the sun shone directly into our faces making the pot holes difficult to
identify and avoid. The air is getting more crisp as we continue driving South. We took our time getting to Comodor Rivadavia passing several lakes, watching eagles stalk their prey and landing with a meal on nearby fence posts. The lowlands around the lakes supporting rich wildlife and plants. Slowly the landscape changes and becomes very dry
with huge rock faces next to the highway, deep veins of red and green stone cutting through the dull flat grey of the surrounding walls. I noticed on several occasions large black beetles scurrying across the highway. I tried several times to photograph them but these insects are the cheetahs of the insect world and never did catch them. Just prior
to entering Comodor we pass through a huge oil field with hundreds oil pumps dotting the landscape. We found a suitable hotel for the evening and changed the oil in the motorcycles.
