January 14th.
Today was a quiet rest day. I spent several hours planning and researching for the balance of the trip. We are researching our options to ship the motorcycles home as well. One option is for us is to have the Kunterbunt's in Valparaiso help us. This couple is known worldwide for their assistance in shipping motorcycles from Chile around the world. I also met a couple of girls from Ireland traveling the world and had the wonderful opportunity to listen to their travel adventures.

January 15th.
As we left La Serena this morning we fueled up, the gas attendant distracted me with his curious questions about the motorcycle and our trip. I forgot to replace the gas cap and nozzle on my Jerry can and while driving down the highway the smell of gasoline overwhelms me. I try for a minute to analyze the problem but can't come to a conclusion. I pull over and the gas sloshes all over me. I quickly pull a "U" turn and head back to the gas station. The attendant doesn't know what I am talking about when I try to explain the situation, I quickly retrace my tracks and find the cap and nozzle laying on the highway slightly squashed but still usable. As we continue towards La Serena the Cacti become larger and there are stunted trees growing along side the road. During one of our road side stops a motorcyclist pulls up honking his horn and two hands are waving at us. There are large smiles under their helmets our Columbian friends have rejoined us. They too are heading for Valparaiso and we continue on our way. We decide to take the unbeaten route and follow the coastal road through Vin Del Mar. The scenery quickly changing to large beautiful trees, manicured lawns with multi million dollar homes, one even having it's own helicopter pad. The road curved so much we became giddy with excitement forgetting to stop and take pictures of the homes. We landed at the Kunterbunt's "hostal" late afternoon. The dogs and hosts greeted us at the door. Their parking lot full of motorcycles from Europe every single one of them BMW's. We get settled in and try to get some sleep. Mike has arranged to have his motorcycle serviced tomorrow morning and when inquiring with the host  about directions his wife who has partaken in several beers says a few nasty words to Mike who returns to the room furious.
