Wow itīs been a while since I have posted an entry. I am going to give you a quick update of our time in Lima and Machu Picchu. Our wives were supposed to arrive in Lima on Monday December 21, however due to the extreme winter weather and several flight cancellations (in Canada) they ended up being late. They spent over 48 hours in airports and on flights trying to reach us. They finally arrived Wednesday morning exhausted and very happy to see us. We were ecstatic to see familiar faces, traveling on the road has worn us out and we look forward to the time off.
Elske and I spent several days in Lima the first couple of days walking around the city checking out the sites and relaxing at our wonderful bed and breakfast. The location superb as it over looks the entire coast line of Lima city directly on the ocean. Victor Delfin is the owner of the home and is one of Peruīs most re known artist. He has several pieces exhibited throughout Peru. The B&B has his artwork displayed everywhere.
We then flew to the city of Cuzco and headed for a tranquil house we rented in the town of Urambamba located in the Sacred Valley. Gardens surround our house and the house keeper is very welcoming. The next day we are up at 3:30 in the morning to drive to Ollanytatambo and to catch the train to Aguas Calientes the only way to Macchu Picchu. We then take a bus up the mountainside to Macchu Picchu. The ruins are stunning and we spend half the day exploring them. We hired a tour guide for the second half of the day to learn about the history of this fantastic city. This city was built for the Elite by the Elite. Only the best crafts people in the Inca empire lived here. The experience was breath taking.
We spent a day in Cuzco visiting a museum and shopping. Our last day was spent relaxing because the girls leave the following evening. It was difficult to see them off and we wished there was more time for them to stay but life carries on and the road beckons us.......

Stunning !
I always wanted to visit the Banuay rice terraces
when I was in the Philippines. I would now change
for an opportunity to see Macchu Picchu. Great that
Elske was finally able to catch up to you.
Continue to enjoy as we continue to live in
South America vicariously through your writings.
Any interest in being published? I have a magazine
editor interested in some of your adventure. We can
talk when you return.
