Another beautiful day with a high of 27 we decided to take the day of, our bums were a little tender and we wanted to see a couple of sites in Downtown Austin. Our first stop was an exquisite hotel called the Driskill... wow talk about absolute opulence. They just spent 40 million in renovations. It is one of America's finest hotels. We then visited a very popular bar called Stubb's. We enjoyed some pulled pork and brisket. Mmmm.. southerners do the best BBQ so very tender and smoked to mouth watering perfection. Stubb's has a huge open bar area and many famous bands have played here. Our last stop was to visit the bronze statue of Stevie Ray Vaughan.
I should note that the downtown core was full of Austin Longhorn fans... to the tune of about 100,000 people walking the streets. Fans here are very dedicated both Men and women ! Texas is an incredibly wealthy state and money literally flows like oil here.
October 26th
We awoke at 5:45a.m. this morning to leave for Brownsville we had a long drive and we needed to get a room and information from the chamber of commerce before 4:00. We have sourced a location to get Mexican car insurance. The ride was nice as we took some back roads and the weather is starting to become hot ( around 30 ).
I have to be honest the first real challenge of the trip starts now! We are both very excited and very nervous. Of course it's always the unknown that scares people.

And so the journey really begins. Quite a difference from the Indian mound you visited in our town. Will keep checking back to see how things are going. Be safe amigos.
