Hi all, it's been another adventurous weekend away, this time in Prague! Thursday Andrea and I caught the night train, arriving in Prague at about 6:50am! She has relatives that live just outside of Prague that we stayed with, so we met Ritch at the train station where he gave us maps and an idea of what to do for the day. Obviously starting off by 7am, it was a long day, but it was awesome! We stopped for a little breakfast first before heading out for the day. We ended up seeing the Old Town Hall Tower and Astronomical Clock, the Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square, Prague Castle, Charles Bridge and several little shops and markets. By 5:30 we met back up with Ritch and went to their home to meet their family and join them for their Friday night tradition of pizza and a movie! It was really nice to be with a family, in a home, on a couch, watching a movie! Sounds funny, I know, but for a few days it just felt like home and I loved every bit of it!

So Saturday Ritch and Susan spent the day with us showing us more of Prague. We saw the dancing house (a modern architectural addition to a historical building….was pretty neat actually!), and made the long hike up Petrin Hill (a large park in Prague) and went up the observation tower. It was over a 1,000 feet walking up the hill and another 299 steps up the "mini Eiffel Tower" (observation tower) which was quite a work out but was totally worth it, for it had the most beautiful sight, viewing all of Prauge on a hot, sunny, clear day! It was breath taking! From there we headed to the castle again to see some of the things we hadn’t seen the day before (The Prague Castle is the biggest castle in the world, which is why we didn’t get through all of it the first day…just a fun little fact for you!). We walked around some more where we would randomly stop and Ritch would tell us interesting things about some of the buildings. He was an awesome tour guide! Then that night Ritch and Susan took us out for a traditional Czech supper! Andrea had pig’s knees and I had duck! I don’t think I’ve ever had duck before but it was amazing! Soo tender and delicious! It was such a good time with them!

Sunday, Andrea and I went to a Czech mass in the small town outside of Prague that the Trca’s live in. Granted we didn’t understand anything they were saying, but Catholic mass is pretty similar everywhere you go, so we knew what was going on! It was neat to at least experience. So from there we caught the train back into Prague and went to the Communism Museum and got some last minute souvenirs. Ritch then picked us up and brought us to another small town where we toured the Sternberk Castle. It was cool to hear some of the stories about this place, and the neat thing is, someone still lives in this castle. It is a descendent of the royalty that used to live there but they only live on one of the floors and the rest is open for tours! To finish off our weekend, we had an amazing family supper with the Trca’s! It was soo nice to have such amazing home cooked meals for the weekend! Everything about this weekend just felt like home. The Trca’s were amazing hosts and it was soo nice to spend the weekend with a family in an actual home! Again, I know it sounds ridiculous, but after more than 2 months of being here away from my family and living in pretty much a closet, it was like a luxury, a little piece of home…and I needed that!

So all-in-all, our weekend in Prague was amazing! The weather couldn’t have been more perfect and we had wonderful company. I can’t wait to go back with mom and dad when they come!  We will probably be going to Berlin, Germany this weekend, so I will hopefully be able to update from that again next week!

Miss you all soo much! Take care!
