Tonight at dinner, we met a few more new astronomers, which was very exciting.  They were both girls, and at one point the entire dinner table was all girls except for Bob.  It's exciting not being the minority for once.  haha.  (sorry Bob)

I also had a terrifying Chilean bug incident in the shower today.  Not only was there a bug in the shower, IT COULD FLY.  Definitely on the list of things I can't handle.  There was a lot of flailing and yelling, my neighbors probably thought I was dying, which I pretty much was..haha.  I don't think I've ever gotten out of a shower quicker before in my life!

Bugs aside, today was a pretty good day.  More clear skys!  And another green flash!  It was so awesome that we could see it two days in a row, when most people don't see it at all on their observing trips.  I used a pair of binoculars this time, and you could really see it with those (not looking directly at the sun, of course!)  We'll meet the rest of the astronomers on the side of the mountain tomorrow night to see if we can go for 3 nights of green flashes!

We also figured out what the telescopes covered by tents were being used for.  They people doing the dark energy camera project are using these small telescopes to test the water vapor in the air.  The astronomer has been here for 10 days, and one night her tents blew down in 40 mph winds!  They have four Celestron 8 inch telescopes monitoring the same bright star through different filters.

The actual observing for the night went very smoothly.  We are starting to get the hang of this!  Hernan even said I was a good student, so great success.  We looked at asteroids 32615 and 1870 tonight, trying to fill our lightcurves in more.

All in all a good day!
