The Joys of Riding ...
150 km into a trip from Daman, travelling north to Champaner (site of a Hindu Temple) my bike siezed. We stopped (we had no choice) on the side of the road, and parked up in the shade of a tree, under which a little Indian man was chilling, as they all tend to do in the midday sun. We struggeled to get the bike started, as it wouldn't even kick. I felt the bike loosing power over the previous 20 km, and though it might have been a minor thing like a build up on the spark plug , but no, the engine had siezed as one of the valves malfunctioned and stop the flow of oil in the engine (i think), with no oil the engine siezed, cracking the piston, liner. I dont mean to go into detail (of which my knowledge is limited) but to say it simply the engine was, f***ed and we were in the middle of nowhere! We hoped on one of the bikes and found a mechanic, who towed the bike to his garage, meanwhile we called our trusty mechanic in Mumbai (Prem) who said that he would send up some of his guys from Mumbai (300km) with a new engine that evening, which he did. Only for he is so sound we would have been in a little more trouble! All sorted we left two days after arriving in Kosamba, but it wasn't the last garage that we will have visited on this trip. Its all part and parcel of a trip, but i'd rather it wasnt!
