24th Christmas Eve - we set off at 8am for a 9 hour drive to Port Douglas, The drive to port douglas was beautiful, one side were high rugged mountains and the other side was miles of beautiful coastline. Port Douglas is the closest town to the great barrier reef. We set up camp in a powered site and had THE worse night sleep ever!! It was 35'C and we do not have a fan or air con in the back of the van so it was impossible to sleep. We thought about staying in a posh hotel down the road just to get a good nights sleep with the air con.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!! It's christmas day in Australia (10 hours before you haha) after a rubbish night sleep and being eaten by mosquitos we spent the morning on the gorgeous 4 mile white sandy beach, had ice cream, spent the afternoon in the campsites pool and were invited by fellow campers to a bbq for dinner. Christmas day has been strange here in sunny Australia, Aussies have spent the day on the beach where there were people doing press ups and jogging (who does exercise on christmas day!! Arent you supposed to fill up on lots of food and selection boxes?), they had bbqs and were walking around in barely any clothes (nothing like back at home) where you will all be round the fire, hot roast dinner and wrapped up in your new christmas clobber.
P.s we now have a fan so hoping for a better sleep tonight,

26th Boxing Day- After a much better night sleep we went on the Draintree Rainforest tour where we had a guided walk through mossman gorge, a river cruise along the Daintree river, a 4x4 trip to causeway falls which is nestled in the rainforest where we swam with fish and turtles. Our tour guide took us to a homemade ice cream shop and had the nicest ice cream we have ever had Lee had mango coconut and i had passionfruit and banana Yum Yum!!

Now we are off to our final destination which is Cairns, this is where we fly home from.

See you all soon xxx
