After some slow rides on the subway we finally arrived in down town manhatten at almost noon, so we grabbed ourselves the obligatory huge sandwich and headed for the statue of liberty, good thing we didn't leave it for later either because the ques were spectacular! In total today I'd say we must have qued for almost 3 hours, so we're REALLY tired! The boat ride to Liberty Island allowed some much needed classic kodak moments!!
when we eventually got into the statue of liberty, we went through a really interesting museum about it, and the making of it, and then climbed our way up! We got to see the inside aswell which was pretty cool, it was designed by Eiffel (The guy that, obviously, designed the Eiffel Tower, Paris), and is pretty impressive, though a bit smaller than you'd think! We took loads of photos, from on it, around it etc, and generally acted like proper tourists wearing our 'I LOVE N Y' shirts, we looked very cool. Honest(!)
After a que to get off the island we headed back to Manhatten via Ellis Island.
We then walked down wall street and got some snap shots of the Stock Exchange building, before heading off to Ground Zero, where the Twin Towers used to be, which was really sad actually. It was a strange sight, a huge gap in the skyline, but at least they're turning it into something beautiful!
After our smoothie, our very sore feet took us home...
