Well hello there! So yesteraday we went to the biggest shopping district in the biggest city in the world ona weekend!!! Very wise!! Yes we went to Shibuya on saturday and boy was it crazy! But we also forgot our camera, so you'll have to take our word for it!! As we got off the subway and out onto the street, we literally could not move, due to the sheer volume of people, pouring into and out off shops, shopping malls, cinemas, theatres, fast food joints and of course love hotels( il tell you about that in a minute!) We walked into one random shopping centre, only to discover 8floors of womens clothing, much to charlotte's delight, and me, well i just got dragged around for a while! Shibuya really is an assult on the senses, with every possible bit of space on the side of buildings being used as advertising space, with large illuminous neon signs fighting for your attention, and then throw in a few 5storey tall tvs, for a laugh!!! Any way we eventually managed to wander our way up towards Love hotel hill, which is extremely funny and extremely seedy!! Love hotels are basically little guest houses where Japanese couples go for and hour or two during a days shopping, or maybe even a night! They have the most weird and crazy themed rooms, from jungle to snow to a sahara desert! We walked for about an hour around the maze of seediness only to be confronted by shamed Japanese couples catching our eye, as they walked at a rather rapid and embarrased pace! It was very very funny!!
Today we decided to venture to the Shinjuku district on the subway! This was another very very crazy area, full of 18-20year old japanese blokes, who actually had a hell of alot of make up on and really did in my view look very stupid! Probably the most weird sight of the afternoon was a live girl band comprising of 22 members (yes they're bigger than Blazing squad!!) singing to an audience of about 200 japanese blokes of all ages! the funniest part being that they had a little spice girls esque dance going on, which all the blokes loved to follow and of course singalong to at the tops of the voices!
Strange and wonderful Tokyo!!
